Seven of these cars use fabric roofs. The Ferrari 488 Spider and the Corvette C8 fold a hard roof into the body, which keeps road noise down on I-95. Every roof here seals well in a summer storm, so it should not decide the car for you.
Set off from the wave wall along Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard and keep the ocean on your right through Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Pompano Beach. Past the Hillsboro Inlet lighthouse, A1A narrows into a quiet strip of big estates.
Begin downtown among the shops and restaurants, cross the Intracoastal past the Las Olas Isles, and finish at the beach. Traffic moves slowly here, which suits a convertible just fine.
Cross the 17th Street Causeway, loop around Port Everglades and pick up A1A again in Dania Beach. It runs down to Hollywood, where the Broadwalk follows the sand for about two and a half miles.
Renters must be 18 or older and carry a current driver's license that has not expired. The refundable deposit goes on a credit card: $1,000 for most of these cars, $500 for the Mustang.
